FarWide is a web app that aggregates data and regulations from government sites to offer hunters and fishermen a systematic, organized way to plan their next outing. Many hunting or fishing areas lie within state park boundaries. Since each state is free to use their own method of communicating the same data or regulation, reading information consistently between states is almost impossible.
A large challenge for this project was designing a way to display different volumes of information in lots of different ways depending on the needs of the state, but also showing it in a visually unified way. Typographic hierarchy and a strong grid presence assist scannability to allow color and iconography to be more robust visual cues. To explore for yourself, the beta is live here.
