53:11

53:11 is a passion project. I designed a publication to appeal to those new to cycling as well as those who are more seasoned riders. The publication contains six chapters and a special feature segment. This is intended to be the inaugural issue featuring road cycling, with the potential to expand 53:11 into a tri-annual publication that also features cyclocross and mountain biking.

In cycling, 53:11 is a ratio relating the number of teeth on a cyclist's front biggest chainring to the rear smallest chainring respectively. The higher the first number and the smaller the second number, the faster your flat top speed can be at the cost of hard work and stubborn suffering. To use a gear ratio like 53:11 you have to be incredibly fast, crazy, or a good bit of both.
